The animal wealth of India is represented
by a broad spectrum of native breeds of cattle (30),
buffalo (10), goat (20), sheep (42), equines (6) and
camels (8). In addition several other forms like poultry,
duck, geese, quails, yak, and pigs are also important
components of animal wealth of India and contribute a big
share in animal production. India is bestowed with a large
population of domestic animals with 204.5 million cattle,
83.5 million buffalo, 50.8 million sheep, 115.2 million
goat, 1.99 million equines, 1.03 million camel, 12.8
million pigs and 0.06 million yaks. This national resource
is also significant contributor to national economy.
Livestock sector accounts for 21 % of the value of output
of agricultural sector, which is 29 % of the gross
domestic product of the economy.
The
large domestic animal population is widespread. These
animals are mostly raised by people / farmers in small
numbers (less than 5 or 6 animals) for their productivity
i.e. milk and meat. Usually the whole family of the
animal owner depends on these animals for their day-to-day
living.
Advances in animal husbandry have touched
and transformed the lives of the largest number of people,
mainly downtrodden, in India. The research in this field
has contributed towards highly active drugs for control of
deadly diseases of animals. We at Neospark are proud to
be a part of this endeavour with a range of products
towards betterment of Animal Health. Those includes |
